One of our highly recommended stops is La Piedra del Penol as the views from the summit is breathtaking. You can buy tours from Tripadvisor or any other reputable site.

You have to buy a ticket and climb over 740 steps to reach the viewing tower on top of this monolithic rock, but the sweeping 360º views of Guatape Lake and the surrounding El Penol region are well worth the price of admission. There are also restaurants at both the base and the summit. If you're already in Guatape town, it's a short taxi ride or an easy half-hour walk from the square. For travelers coming from Medellin, La Piedra is a two-hour bus trip away; booking a day trip is often a cheap and convenient option. Make sure you bring your walking shoes!
